INFO:
Located at Suntec, Kuro Izakaya was envisioned to bring creative Japanese bespoke dining to the palate savvy Singaporean diner. Kuro draws on traditional Japanese warrior motifs and cultural icons for its inspiration. Meshed with modern technology in its construction and design ideas, the team at TOPOS worked closely with their contractors to create the hand crafted brass seals also known as Kamon, or emblems of Japanese family crest at the grand entrance. The Kuro plate that forms the signage of the restaurant harks back to the ancient art of Kintsugi – a Japanese craft of repairing pottery with special lacquer. It is the time-honoured tradition of recognizing beauty in broken things. Over the dining tables, custom lamps created by the TOPOS team drew inspiration from traditional Japanese rice bags fashioned from Japanese patterned fabric.
